The American Heart Association’s Hamptons Heart Ball glitters, sparkles & shines

Set under amazing tents on the grounds of the Hayground School in Bridgehampton, the American Heart Association celebrated their 18th Annual Hamptons Heart Ball on Saturday 28 June, 2014.

Friends and colleagues from NYC, Long Island and the Hamptons enjoyed the beautiful setting of the Hamptons while eating delicious heart healthy foods, drinking delightful local wines and having fun with the music and dancing, cocktail hour, dinner, and auctions. The event focused on raising funds for the mission of the American Heart Foundation.

This year, the Heart Ball honored Dr. Leonard Girardi, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon, New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center with the Distinguished Service Award and the Distinguished Leadership award was presented to Samuel L. Stanley Jr., MD, President, Stony Brook University, which was also the signature sponsor of the Hamptons Heart Ball.

This year’s Event Co-Chairs were Dr. Karl & Krista Krieger and Rita Cosby, Emmy-Winning TV and Radio Host served as Master of Ceremonies. The evening got started with Open Your Heart Chair, Paola Bacchini Rosenshein welcoming the crowd and praising the American Heart Association for their advocacy efforts to make pulse-ox testing for newborn babies in New York State a law.

The live auction, conducted by Christie’s, included fabulous items such as a stay in a historical castle in Ireland and Family Tuscan Villa owned by the Civetta’s family as well as tickets and seats for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

During the Special Appeal the Burckhard family, whose son, Mederick, was born with half a heart, shared their amazing story of survival and received overwhelming support from those in attendance.  NY Giant and Super Bowl XLVI Champion Mario Manningham was also on hand to share his story and connection to heart disease.

The after party kicked off with Heart Heros Arnold Rosenshein, Cristina Civetta and Rocco Ancarola sharing their heart stories.  Los Angeles choreographer, Noel Bandajas created special dance performances with his dance crew to the music medleys of Donna Summer and Daft Punk.  Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin surprised the room with a duet with Sax extraordinaire Steve Interante and then a live performance of her dance hit Feelin Alive. DJ Terry Casey and DJ Cash kept the crowd dancing all night.
