Geraldo Rivera Competes for Charity on NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice

Television journalist, news producer, and dynamic public advocate Geraldo Rivera is competing for his chosen charity Life’s WORC in the seventh installment of NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” fronted by Donald Trump. The program airs on Mondays at 8:00pm CST on NBC.

Rivera, who currently hosts specials under the moniker “Geraldo Rivera Reports” on Fox News Channel (FNC) and a daily show on WABC RADIO 770, is competing against 15 other celebrities in Donald Trump’s boardroom as they vie for the top prize of $250,000. They will try to avoid elimination in the face of grueling deadlines, intellectual challenges and intense scrutiny. This season, the late Joan Rivers will appear on two episodes as one of Trump’s trusted advisors, herself the winner of season 2 of The Celebrity Apprentice.

In the season premiere, the celebrities worked with Pie Face Shops to create and sell their own celebrity pies, and on the men’s team, Geraldo was nominated as Project Manager. When Trump grills the men, who are victorious, he learns that Geraldo raised the most money. By episode two it had become clear to the contestants that Geraldo is a formidable – and cutthroat – contender on the show. Geraldo was again nominated Project Manager in last night’s episode and it was revealed he has raised the most of all the contestants, with a total of $580,000 raised for Life’s WORC. (Read more about the episodes here: www.nbc.com/the-celebrity-apprentice/episodes)

Rivera, a Peabody and Emmy-Award winning journalist, who recently celebrated a career spanning 40 years, has practiced a uniquely effective brand of television and radio journalism, pursuing and breaking stories that make a difference in people’s lives. Since the start of his news career, Rivera has covered seven wars, conducted exclusive interviews with the likes of Fidel Castro and Charles Manson, authored eight books, and received more than 170 awards for his work in television journalism.

A dedicated philanthropist, Rivera has shown commitment to several New York charities and organizations, particularly those caring for the developmentally disabled and Autistic. This stems from his ground-breaking Peabody-Award winning investigations of the grim institutions that once dominated the treatment landscape. He selected Life’s WORC, an organization that supports individuals with those disabilities, as his benefiting charity for The Celebrity Apprentice.

“Life’s WORC is greatly honored and appreciative that Geraldo has chosen us as his charity of choice as he competes on Celebrity Apprentice,” said Life’s WORC Assistant Executive Director, Matthew Zebatto. “Geraldo’s commitment to people with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges is well documented. You can bet that our staff and the people we support will be in front of our TV sets rooting for him. Go Geraldo!”

Rivera will compete on the seventh season of The Celebrity Apprentice alongside other business-savvy celebrities including “Deadliest Catch” star Captain Sig Hansen, musician Kevin Jonas, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson, TV personality Leeza Gibbons, reality star Brandi Glanville and former star of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kenya Moore.

Can Geraldo continue his lucky streak? Find out by watching the show at 8:00pm every Monday.

Swifty’s Restaurant Celebrates New Year with Art Show feat. Barry Seidman

Swifty’s Restaurant on the Upper East Side celebrated the New Year with an Art Show, titled Excerpts at Swifty’s, featuring renowned, still life photographer Barry Seidman on Thursday January 8, 2015, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Guests joined owners Robert Caravaggi and Chef Stephen Attoe for cocktails, tasty hors d’oeuvres, and a look at Seidman’s latest photographic series, Feast for the Eyes, as well as pieces from his series, Drinks, which will be on exhibition at Swifty’s restaurant through to March 2, 2015.

After years of being the invisible American influence behind companies such as Pernod Ricard, Coca-Cola and Nabisco, Barry Seidman has turned his creative lens towards fine art photography. Seidman exhibits his fine art photography in numerous, one-man, fine art shows in New York City and South Florida and is collected internationally. His Feast for the Eyes photographic series, which was recently debuted at the Gallery at Fotocare in Chelsea dazzled photography enthusiasts as well as food world luminaries. The series was inspired by the fresh fruits and vegetables he found visiting local greenmarkets where he studied the voluptuous shapes, pure colors and beautiful textures of the produce.

Patrons at Swifty’s are always delighted to see the exquisite selection of paintings and photos displayed on the walls of the restaurant, which are rotated regularly by Caravaggi and Attoe. Chef Attoe’s wife, Patricia Attoe, draws on her extensive art background in curating the art at the restaurant. New York artist Mary Lou Schempf’s stunning work is exhibited in the front room on an ongoing basis. Her work complements the restaurant’s style and décor which was brought to life by famed decorators Mario Buatta and Anne Eisenhower.

Swifty’s has been a favorite Upper East Side haunt for over 15 years, despite an ever-changing dining scene. A sophisticated yet low-key restaurant, Swifty’s attracts a devoted clientele. Owners Stephen Attoe and co-owner Robert Caravaggi, former chef and maître d’ respectively of legendary Upper East Side boîte, Mortimer’s, combine classic and straight-forward, American and European cuisine with friendly and impeccable service.
